Talking
about natural tourism, Indonesia also has many places that can be made as
tourist objects that are not yet known to the world. One of them is tourism on Sabu
island, East Nusa Tenggara. This island has natural attractions in the form of
colorful hills called Kelabba Maja.

Kelabba Maja
Kelabba
Maja comes from words Ke'labba and Maja. where Kelabba means part of the land of ash, and Maja has means the name of the God. Kelabba Maja is located in Hawu Mehara
Subdistrict, Sabu Raijua Regency, Sabu or Hawu Island. this island has a motto "mira kaddi hari do me
mude para lai" Handled together makes everything easier.
Kelabba Maja is considered a land
of Gods by local residents, especially residents of the village of Genalalu.
They believe that colorful hills are the place where the God Maja. Dirty words
are prohibited when visit to this place.
1. Rock Cliffs
Kelabba Maja has cliffs with unique rock formations.
The size varies from small to giant rocks. Some stones form mushroom heads and pillars.
Kelabba Maja has hills in the form of cliffs like tubes that have special and unique features.
These irregular cliffs look like they were swept away with giant brushes with various color variants.

2. Balance Stone
In Kelabba Maja there are three main stones which are called balance stones. where the largest stone represents the father, the two mothers and the smallest are children. These three stones stand firmly on the pointed cliff top. The stone that stands firmly in the middle, which is used as an altar for sacrificial animal offerings for Lord Maja. At July when the moon is full, local residents perform rituals to slaughter sacrificial animals to beg for salvation and fertility.

1. Namata Village

The closest
traditional village from Seba City is Namata Village, which is in Raeloro
Village, Sabu Barat District. The appeal of Kampung Namata is the typical Sabu
traditional house called Emu Rukoko. This traditional house has shape like an upside down boat. The walls of the house are made of bamboo and
the roof is made of palm leaves which the roof dangles to almost touch the
ground so that it covers the entire wall of house. This shapes shows Sabu
residents are fishermen who used to use boats when catching fish in the sea.
Besides the unique traditional house in Namata village there is also a circular
field with hundreds of years old megalithic stones nearby. The field is none
other than the place where residents of Kampong Namata hold various traditional
ceremonies.

Limestone Hill

4. Teni Hawu Palace

palace is located in Seba City and stands firmly until now since it was built
in the Dutch colonial period. In the past, Teni Hawu Palace was used as the
center of the government of the Sabu region led by King Samuel Java. In this palace there is a resident in the form of a red snake and will come down if want to eat. In this palace there are also various ancestral remains in the
form of cannons used during wartime.

Padoa
dance has a special meaning for sabu residents.
One of which is to
draw closer to God and express gratitude for the blessings God has given them.
Besides that, Padoa Dance is also one of the media to strengthen their unity
and togetherness.

Cock fighting are activities that are carried out every year in the district of Sabu.
Traditional chicken spurs are sacred and rich in the meaning that every
chicken blood that spills onto the ground is a symbol. So there may be
more blood of human children (descendants of Hawu Miha) who have spilled into the
land of Sabu as a result of any conflict. So the meaning is that fellow
nationals (sabu) are encouraged not to conflict which results in bloodshed.
Access to Kelabba Maja:
1. Transportation
Access to the island is quite difficult. To achieve this, tourists must travel from Kupang to Sabu.
Crossing to the island can be by land and sea. Land routes can use aircraft while sea lanes use ships.
2. Time to visit
The right time to visit Sabu Island is March to November.
